In 2021 we progressed with the construction of the “Big Barn” and the main wedding venue.
The main wedding venue includes the pavilion. Plans are for a dance floor connecting the two structures with a pizza oven/fireplace and outdoor kitchen.
In June our baby girl Nina Zweifel graduated from Tillamook High School. The next day we took a family vacation to Yellowstone Park in Wyoming and Montana. It was a great family trip. We even took Cruise on our trip. Here he is driving below.
After a really bad 2020 for the farm from Covid, 2021 started out really quite slow as well. But mid year it began picking up steam and especially in our Los Angeles Flower Market, sales were very good in the last quarter.
We have been selling more and more Christmas trees each year. There was a nationwide shortage in 2021, so we even sold more high elevation noble fir trees than ever. We purchased a new whare house down the road, which used to be a Cheese Factory. It worked perfectly to sell Christmas trees out of.
We had a good pumpkin patch, though down a bit from 2020.
Nina worked for us full time this summer for the first time. It was really great and she was a hard worker and took initiative on the crew. She was a decisive crew boss! I never thought i’d ever pick flowers with my daughter! This marks a major shirt in our employment from Hispanic labor to part time women which seems to be the most reliable source of available labor.
